??? I thought the Farmers Almanac was accurate 90% of the time, why would you not care? Sounds like a pretty good source of long range info to me.

Re: Late January warmup with possible severe
i would most hunker down this spring my friends... like toot says, severe is hard to forecast in the long range... but signs are pointing towards a very active spring and perhaps deadly... one, this la nina is forecasted to go through april at least, 2. we havent and dont look like we will get any long sustained cold to cripple the gulf with its rich moisture... so that should be primed and pumped for action. 3, solar activity is fixing to shoot at a high level, i have been doing alot of reading on that. 4 the nao is staying pretty much positive more the most part... i am really been working hard studying more and more about severe... lets just be prepared, this season looks very active. and i am sure most mets would agree 100 percent with me.

Bruce, on the 6 oclock newscast, Todd Howell said the same exact things you just laid out about this Spring and the severe wx intensity. Said he expects much, much worse than what we had lasr night if the current pattern, or one close to it, continues or comes right back after a bout of a cold snap

NOOOOO!! Oh, that's terrible! Some people on my road don't even have their roofs fixed yet from last Spring! Oh my goodness, I so hope this turns out to be wrong.

If we do not get a period of sustained cold, then this Spring's severe will be worse than last years. Not only because the Gulf is so rich and unfrazzled due to the lack of any kind of sustained cold, but also because of the factors that Bruce/Tnstorm laid out.
