i cant sleep tonight for some reason, glad i cant... cause watching that nice storm heading out of dickson going to waverly tenn... it has really got a nice hail core with it... possible up to golf ball size... also looks like it has at least some 60 to 70 mph winds in the more intesnse spots... really nice looking storm for this time of night without any shear.

Some pretty high instability has developed ahead of the front today. Be interesting to see what kind of convection develops
Re: Summer 2012 WX Discussion

I hope this happens , but if you look at the regional radar right now, the core of HELL is holding tight over West TN and the Bootheel. It looks like we are in a bubble.

Looks like the whole state will pick up some decent amounts..but things do drop off rather quickly towards the NW corner of the state.

Re: Summer 2012 WX Discussion

Re: Summer 2012 WX Discussion
Some areas of Hell are getting showers. Hopefully it expands as we go into the evening.
Re: Summer 2012 WX Discussion
The amount of convection around the TN Valley has been overall disappointing today--certainly not nearly as much as yesterday along the front. Perhaps our earlier cloudiness has not allowed as much destabilization to occur. Hopefully, we'll see more into the evening and overnight.

No severe weather here, but lightning was very intense during the storm, and rec'd about a half inch of rain in a quick downpour. Storms have already dissipated as they moved east into Cocke Co.

Re: Summer 2012 WX Discussion
My luck is unbelieable. It has rained in South, West and East Knox Co but not in the North where I live. Every time a storm moves in to my area it just falls apart. I picked a bad week to quit dipping.

We've all been there dude, at one point or another. I know I've seen my share of storms JUST miss me. I've been lucky this summer, considering the pattern we've been stuck in.
