Re: Fall 2012 wx discussion
Today's Record low in Nashville was -1 back in 1950. I just wonder how that winter turned out.. Burr lool. Its only November 25th.. And Crossville (way east of Nashville) Was over 12 atleast because there record low for today was 12 back in 1970. So probably was a strong cold front that caused that. (or Crossville didnt have records back then).

Well it looks like the CPC will be wrong in the precip prediction for California's area. (ofc this is a freak system). They are going to be getting a ton of rain in like a week like a foot or more in total. Im sure there normal for each month isn't that much and they will have that in like a weeks time in December. The CPC has them in below normal precip.

Re: Fall 2012 wx discussion
Not sure about overnight lows tnite here in E TN as clouds are hanging tough and according to MRX, moisture has become trapped under an inversion. That is usually a recipe for very slow or even no clearing at night. I suspect that we will not clear out and our forecast lows near 30 will bust by about the same amount as the highs from today. About 5-10 degrees. Pro0ably near 40, or only upper 30s at most tonight if clouds don't move out

I think you're right!
Re: Fall 2012 wx discussion
Looks like we gonna get down to about the 25 mark here in Morristown tonight that is about 10 degrees below normal FWIW
Re: Fall 2012 wx discussion
Easily 25 Toot. Coming home from church tonight, the thermometer on my car read 28 here just a few mins. Ago in a few places. It is 32 up here on the ridge. I'd say 20-25 is doable tnight provided no clouds and wind move in.

Re: Fall 2012 wx discussion
I'm working on the answer for you. Honestly, I have no idea exactly, as i've never done that. however, I have several friends that are computer geniouses, so i'll ask. I imagine it depends upon what kind of station it is, and where you want to put it. If anyone else knows, post it here. We'll all learn together

Long range ensemble tele's from both GFS and Euro continue to look rather bleh. The Pac really reminds me a lot of last year, which scares me. I'm not saying this winter will be like last because there are many other factors, but I think one has to be at least a little worried about the possibility of the Pac doing the majority of the driving this winter. Will be interesting to see how it all unfolds.

Gradient winter is all I can see when I look at the post truncation gfs - starting to look like a snowy one for the OKC to NYC line and north if we can't get the PNA to cooperate.

Re: Fall 2012 wx discussion
Or we need the AO to go insanely negative, such that the center of the PV is about 500 miles south of where it currently is

True, however the AO is coming out of a pretty negative stretch and while we were a good bit below normal (temp wise) still nothing all that impressive (compared to what it could have been if we had other signals cooperating). A lot of cold sitting up in Canada waiting to be tapped.

Called for a low of 27, and it got down to 24.2. Oh well. If u need help installing a weather station, I have all sorts of insights and tips from the actual install to software that I use. I will create a topic later this evening as im busy atm.

Re: Fall 2012 wx discussion
more blah from the 12z suite of models.
GFS ensembles are a little interesting. But the post 168 hour euro delayed the cold and our front next week is looking weaker by the run.
Really not looking forward to decorating the Christmas tree in 70 degree weather saturday.
