They may call it a hurricane at some point... but were only talking about a 4mph difference between this and a CAT1 hurricane. Its just a name at this point. I'd say the winds will probably never get high enough for it to be called a CAT 2 but we are getting close to DMAX. I would expect some intensification since its the favorable time of day in the tropics. To me its a very strong subtropical storm.. but that is in my own little world too Razz

To think its extra tropical...

Its definately not fully extratropical by any means. There is some extratropical characteristics going on that I already outlined. Im sure the core shows warm also.. but its been mingling with a non tropical ULL for a couple of days now. Its now mingling with a mid latitude cold front. Its also taking on an extratropical look!

Id say its in the very early stages of transition which will make a differnece as you have already seen the frontal structure and the toll it has taken on the storm's organiztion.

I'm so thankful that this team of people changed the course of the hurricane away from the Republican National Convention with the shear power of prayer.

http://www.wisconsingazette.com/breaking-news/pastor-says-prayer-team-sent-isaac-away-from-rnc.html

“We have had lots and lots of people praying around the clock that it would move, and after you watch from the very beginning where they were saying it was coming and now where they say it is going, then it has really moved out of the way for us and we appreciate God doing that and moving it for us.”

God hates NOLA so it's all good. Right?

Hurricane Isaac is making landfall in the marshes of southeastern Louisiana this evening. NHC lists the pressure at 970Mb and winds of 80MPH. Isaac has gotten a little better organized as he is currently showing an eye feature really close to making landfall.

Here is a radar animation I saved a few minutes ago!

That said.. he continues to have problems with dry air due to a dry slot that started forming early yesterday morning. Gonna be a big rainmaker in areas that are experiencing record drought this year. Aside from the flooding and damaging winds down in the central gulf coastal region he will be a very welcome storm.

Isaac is trying really hard to become intense tonight. Wouldnt be surprised to hear of some 120+MPH winds down in Louisiana. This has been an awesome storm to follow over the last few days pals
