Morning low of 20.5. After snow and sleet melted in the rain gauge today, I show we had 0.42" of frozen precip. That seems way too high to me, but that's what it is. Month to date: 8.46".

Never made it out of the 30's here today with the snowcover and all. Picked up about 4.5 inches of snow yesterday..I think we might break into the teens tonight..although models dont seem to be showing that. I'll go with 18 for a nocturnal low overnight

Toot, I agree. Hit a whopping 34 degrees here today, now back to 31. I think 18 is very conceivable for tnite

Got down to an even 20 overnight. The snow is even better for sledding today. Its almost like a solid sheet of ice now about 2.5 in thick!

Yep, going down into the teens tonight for sure. 26 currently. Dropped 4 degrees in the last hour. I'm going with a low of 16 tonight. High of 28 tomorrow. Low of 11 tomorrow night.

Interesting to note, there is still some snow in the shade. Actually fairly thick in N facing hills that are totally shaded. It is conceivable that, some of this could possibly hang around till whatever we have this weekend (or not) comes through. Could just be rain though. It would be cool though, if it did snow again on top of what's left though!

30.6 here and falling slowly, but it is breezy with W winds around 10-14 MPH. Dew point down to 12. I'm having a time figuring the low tonight but if the winds calm, I'll go with 17 tonight, 30 tomorrow, and 14 tomorrow night.

22 with a DP of 8 here. Figuring on 12-14 for the low. Miss the days when we'd get a big snow storm and the high would struggle to hit 12.

16 here this AM, with a nice breeze. Finally feels like winter, lol. Also looks like some clouds headed this way. Maybe that will keep high temps down a little. Would love to stay in the 20s at least once this year!

Re: January Observations

Had gotten to 26 at noon, but now back down to 25. CAA seems to be winning the battle now. Worth noting are the dp's which are continuing to drop. Now mostly subzero I40 N. TYS is the highest around here I can find at 4. Most are btwn 0 and -4. MRX lowered highs at the update as the H builds in over the ohio and TN valleys tnite, winds die off, and temps plummet. With dp.s this low and light winds mid teens is too high. I'm thinking btwn 8-13 for most areas. Esp. N of Knoxville. Wouldn't be surprised to see even lower. These dewpoints mean business when it comes to radiational cooling. If we had Thurs. Snow still on the ground, most would drop below 0 or right at it.

Actual low this morning was 18.6 (I forecasted 17). Actual high today was 32.4 (I forecasted 30). Current dew point is 0 (wow!). I'm sticking with 14 for tonight's low though. pffft

Today's high 27 here. However, a deck of clouds is trying to move in. That's going to cut some of the radiational cooling I was thinking may come into play tonight. I'll have to see how long the clouds last, or how thick they come in. I still think 10-15 is very conceivable here even with the cloud deck, as I don't think it will last all night. I could be wrong though, and if I am, then the 18 MRX has forecasted will be just about right.

Man, it's 2:11am and the temp is still at 27.3. Wind out of the SW around 5 MPH. Dew point at 3. Overcast sky. This my min temp forecast looks to be a major bust. facepalm

Well, the cloud deck just never could clear out. However, thanks to a last minute clearing I dropped from 21 at 630 to 18 at 740. You just never know with these kind of airmasses. If you can stay clear, you can drop way down, if not, theres not much drop off.
