Had my first taste of frost this morning here at my house. It was most noticeable on the corner of the back of the house. I used my phone and zoomed in on it, so clarity is not the best, but it just shows whats coming. By this time next week, I bet a lot, if not all of the state will have seen its first frost.

Man..the weather pattern has become very interesting and very busy! There is so much going on that I really dont know which system to post about. Its hard to take any one model run very serious because they cant possibly handle all the energy correctly. But they do all agree on a big ticket southern stream storm system around day 10..hard to say if it will be a wintry threat or a severe threat. Climo would argue for a severe threat and many models are cutting it well west for any eastern snow threat.

The CMC and EURO are very similar but the CMC has a monster down to 985Mb

if that were to verify that would be a sweet severe set up

With the 985mb low sitting in Iowa from this map makes me think it would be on the line of severe not a snow event. If it happens. Just my two cents worth which don't mean anything.

Lol, I mostly ignore MRX when they use outlandish terminology, but this is too good to pass up again. This guy must not be from around here, "Cumberland Rise" give me a break. haha

.DISCUSSION...WEAK UPPER TROUGH SHIFTING SLOWLY EAST WITH A BAND OF PATCHY LIGHT RAIN AND SOME DRIZZLE MOVING ONTO THE CUMBERLAND RISE.
BEST CHANCE OF MORE THAN JUST A COUPLE DROPS OF RAIN WILL BE ACROSS THIS HIGHER TERRAIN REGION SO ADJUSTED POP TO LIKELY CATEGORY WITH A SLIGHT UPWARD TWEAK ACROSS ADJACENT AREAS IN SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA.
DIFFICULT FORECAST IN A WAY WHEN A WEAKENING SYSTEM IS MOVING IN
BECAUSE IT IS NOT ENTIRELY APPARENT HOW FAST OR HOW MUCH THE LIFT
WILL FADE. MODELS SUGGEST A SLOW WEAKENING TREND AND I SUPPOSE THELOW POPS MATCH THIS TO SOME DEGREE. AT ANY RATE...IT WILL BE A
LIGHT RAIN EVENT WHICH WILL BE TOUGH TO ACTUALLY MEASURE IN THE
BUCKETS. WAS CONCERNED ABOUT EDGING MAX TEMPS BACK WITH THE
APPROACHING MID DECK BUT NOTICED THE RATHER DECENT WARMING THIS
MORNING SO WILL STAY WITH CURRENT TEMPERATURE FORECAST.

todays 12zgfs is jumping on board about a fairly significant severe weather threat at months end... details little early to jump into details... but looks like a nice little sw flow sets up after this weekend to set the stage

Thanks for the video. Hope we see a lot of this, this winter. Temps for my area Friday night/Saturday morning are forecast to go down to the upper 20's. This will be the end of the growing season if this happens. Would be just a little early for us if this happens. Not that much. Maybe one too two weeks early.

Good thing about this weekend freeze is no more mowing! But it will also kill the fall colors before they really get going here so guess no fall leaves this year. Also at least now we have something interesting to watch in like a week we can get some severe weather from what I have been reading. I prefer snow but its to early for that so severe weather will work to ease the bordom. lol Very Happy

Wow, this totally caught me off guard it.s raining and sleeting here at the house currently! Didnt see that coming. Somehow I guess there is enough moisture and lift even here to wring out some precip. I'm beginning to think the freeze warning for tonight may not work out, as there.s still quite a few clouds and wind. Tomorrow night though, different story.

Had a few sleet pellets and then a few flakes earlier, first frozen precip of the year. Currently 35 degrees with clouds.
