NWS has us under a WWA. 1 inch in the valley and 1 - 3 in the mountains. Snowfall heaviest in the morning. Let see how this works out..

Not sure where this belongs but thought some of you would get a chuckle on some of the wording.

AccuWeather Global Headquarters, January 13, 2014 - AccuWeather is pleased to announce it will launch a 24X7 weather channel, to be known as the AccuWeather Channel, in the third quarter of 2014.
AccuWeather had not planned to make the announcement at this time, but decided to accelerate the announcement in light of the controversy that has developed between DIRECTV and The Weather Channel and in order to make the public aware of an additional offering that will be available to them later this year.
AccuWeather is already the leading source of weather forecasts, information and data and is considered to be the most accurate and valuable source of weather forecasts around the world.
The Superior Accuracy™ of AccuWeather forecasts has allowed us to create a strong brand that has saved lives, protected property and placed pinpoint weather information in the hands of our consumers. AccuWeather has been recognized for its innovative and valuable displays and presentation of the weather to the public and private sectors.
AccuWeather's forecasts are the most localized and most customized and it is the only source for day-by-day forecasts 45 days in advance. AccuWeather is also prepared to launch MinuteCast™, which will provide minute-by-minute forecasts for every location in the United States and Canada.
The new AccuWeather Channel will be focused on helping people make better decisions in planning to improve life and safety. It will provide highly localized and customized forecasts, and will round out AccuWeather's suite of services to the public. AccuWeather already provides weather forecasts by smartphones, tablets, AccuWeather.com web and mobile sites, radio, AccuWeather-affiliated television stations, and over 500 newspapers nationwide.
The new AccuWeather Channel will be streamed on AccuWeather.com and other internet sites, as well as through media partner affiliate mobile and internet sites and is expected to be available through cable and satellite carriers.

DirecTV drops Weather Channel amid contract dispute.

As far as I'm concerned, they're better off without TWC.

Light snow and 33 currently at the house. I honestly consider that a victory for this system which just fizzled out more or less the closer we got. I guess we'll see what this little band can do. Maybe Fri. Will be a little better, then there's also Sun. Might need to revive the old clipper train thread from last year haha

There is another decent snow shower coming through Morristown right now. Way to warm right now to accumulate, but still nice to look at nonetheless.

You are a 100% right. They trying to scare people about losing the TWC. Bunch of Bull. They have 2 minutes worth of weather and that's if they don't cut away for 10 minutes worth of TV Ads. I like Weather Nation very well. I get weather Nation on a little box call Roku 3. Cost me nothing every month to watch it. If you like you can also watch it on your PC. Weather 24/7 the way TWC use to do. Just my 2 cents worth.etnwx wrote:DirecTV drops Weather Channel amid contract dispute.

Last night we were under a WWA. They were saying 1 inch in the valley and 1 - 3 inches in the Mountains. I never seen a snow flake. This was on the NWS Site last night...

I have a Roku 3. Best media player ever especially if you add the Plex channel. Plex allows streaming of movies, TV episodes, music and pictures from your computer or NAS. If you follow the naming format, it have a very nice interface like Netflix. Anyways, I'll have to check out Weather Nation.
TWC use to be good back in the 90's. Now that NBC has taken it over, it just spews political agenda, and barely covers the weather. With this and other things going on, it's so sad to see our country going down the crapper.

Heavy dusting Jeff/Hamblen line looks like some more headed this way tonight too
Re: Winter Wx Discussion 2013/14
Had an intense snow shower move through btwn 230-300 it snowed it's butt off at the house. My wife said it was between a quarter to half inch on the glass picnic table. I don't know bc I wasn't there to measure it, but I do know it snowed hard in spots today. Sure hope we can reel something decent in here in the next few weeks

Re: Winter Wx Discussion 2013/14
What is the NWS looking at to say something like this in their discussion....
LONG RANGE GUIDANCE IS BEGINNING TO SUGGEST THAT THIS LONGWAVE
TROUGH AXIS THAT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE CLIPPER SYSTEMS COULD BE
MOVING ON BY THE END OF NEXT WEEK...SO A PATTERN SHIFT MAY NOT BE
TOO FAR AWAY.
All of the guidance I have seen indicates exactly the opposite. Any ideas?

They're not looking at anything..looks like 100% blind speculation to me. All guidance I have seen keeps the ridge out west PUMPED..that means cool to cold and active here for at least the next couple of weeks I would thinkweathertree4u wrote:What is the NWS looking at to say something like this in their discussion....
Re: Winter Wx Discussion 2013/14
I think it just means the clipper train is going to end. If the GFS verifies, break out the double long johns. It's showing well below 0 again with single digit highs in the late month period.

Re: Winter Wx Discussion 2013/14
Want to know what happened snowfall wise in Jan 88 look no further than the 12z GFS that is a southern snow lovers dream! Now, it has about 0% chance to verify exactly as shown, but this is certainly showing the potential that this upcoming pattern could yield. It looks like a possibly fun ending to the month and beginning to Feb.
