38.6 here and falling very quickly and starting to mix

All snow and 34

I went from moderate rain to sleet. Sleet was heavy at 36*. Snow mixed in at 34* about 20 minutes ago. As soon as the temp dropped to 32* all of the precip abruptly ended. My luck. I wasn't expecting anything more than a dusting but I didn't even get that. I'm not so sure about the flash freeze either. The Jeep soft top is icy and the roads are wet but I think the roads will probably dry off quickly with these wind gusts.

Good luck folks on getting some accumulations northeast of here.

Now 32.7 and all light snow. Winds have calmed to 10-15MPH. So now we see how much snow we'll get.

1.75 inches right now, looks like I might squeeze out 2 or 2.5 inches. Amazingly heavy snow, peak at a rate of about 1.5 inches per hour probably.

Snowing so hard here in Halls. Everything is white but the pavement.

Just switched over here in Morristown

Light to moderate snow. Grass is covered, but road and sidewalks aren't. Roof in mostly covered. My guess without going outside is we have 1/2"

Had one crazy trip to Max patch last night....my camera doesn't have a flash on it so not many pics turned out well. Meanwhile...just woke up and judging thru the window there looks to be almost two inches here in Motown maybe a hair less

What does everyone think about tonight? I think we have greater than 50% shot over the N half of ETN to drop below zero now with some snow hanging around. Any thoughts?

With the snow cover I'm thinking about neg 3 in Morristown Newport area

Yeah I agree Toot. If we go lower than -1, it will have been since 1989 since I saw that. Take that lightly hear though bc that was in MS then, and I wasn't here in 1994 or 1996 when y'all dropped below zero. So if it does drop that low, then that's pretty substantial for me!

Right now it is snowing harder than I have seen so far!(north east cocke)

I am sure we had some better rates during the night.

I don't know what it takes to qualify a blizzard, and I know we all joke about flizzards, but just a little while ago here in Morristown, it was snowing at whiteout conditions for about 5 min. Temp at 16 degrees wind may have not been quite high enough to qualify for blizzard conditions, but for all purposes it was a blizzard if I've ever seen one. Instantly the salted roads became white and we added a good quarter in to what we have here. I've driven around a bit but it's mostly in the 1-1.5in range here in Hamblen CO. Probably some isolated 2 in here and there esp on hills where the wind blew it in

Man..it is really coming down in Bridgeport. Id say weve got an inch just n the last hour. On cell right now or i would post pics. I will post some later tho

About 4 inches n Bridgeport area of Cocke county. Back roads and even some of the main highways are snow/ice covered

its a partly cloudy day in jackson... sun out n in... balmy 11 degrees... wind chill minus 10

More sun than clouds now, but temp has fallen back to 10 here at the house now! Picked up bout 1.5 in here at my house with .5 of tht coming today! Unreal how strong this CAA is I know it's Jan. but man, that is some extreme cold air to drop the temps like this! I'm feeling more confident that I drop below Zero tonight. Lots of snow around clearing skies, even if winds stay up, I should still drop into the single digits after sunset and head on down as the DP goes down and clouds clear out. I think in E TN north of I 40 and in the mtns will be at or below zero in the AM

I have 5 degrees right now at the house. Going to be interesting to see just how low it can get. I still think zero or lower is about right assuming the clouds stay gone. If they come back may not make it below zero or much below. If they stay gone and the wind drops just a little, lookout with this snow cover in place.

I am still amazed that this worked out in the snow dept. I don't ever recall seeing a cold front run like an Olympic sprinter and overtake the moisture like this one did. This was truly incredible all around!

Take a look at the WRF model loop at the top left of the screen if you like to see what Ocean Effect snow looks like off the New England coast! Crazy! I'd love to be under that band!
