Post by VFL on 2014-04-22, 9:18 am

Looks like it this weekend. We might even get in on the action on Monday. May need a thread for this.

Storm to Spoil Spring for Millions Next Week in Midwest, East

Post by etnwx on 2014-04-22, 1:21 pm

A large storm will form over the eastern half of the nation next week and will bring a swath of unsettled conditions that lasts for days.

Millions of people looking for a long period of sunny, warm weather from the Midwest to the South and the Northeast will need to look elsewhere next week.

The unsettled pattern will stretch from Chicago and Detroit to Atlanta, Washington, D.C., New York City and Boston.

According to AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams, "Just when you thought wonderful spring weather was going to finally set up shop, this happens."

This looks like a bad situation from the plains to the mid south.

Tornado watch out for all of east Tennessee now. Multiple supercells have already formed downstream to our SW in MS producing several large wedge tornadoes! Heck.. southern areas of mid to east TN may even see some of those! The airmass over east TN is really primed with a tongue of strong instability already in place with wind shear on the increase as forcing gets closer.

This means any thunderstorm cell will easily spin like a top and possibly spit out a funnel. Keep an eye on radar folk

We left the house about 8:30 last night because we live in a mobile home. And i got ahead of the strong storms and went up to 75/40 split and went 40 west, then went 70 east and come back down 27. Got home about 1:30. I got around 2.25 inches of rain. We had some family wanting us to stay with them but, there house had no basement. Besides i got to see a great lightning show. After 2011 we were thinking about a tornado shelter but for some reason we did not get one. Thinking a lot harder about it now.
