I love winter weather. There is a lot of good research, ideas, and theories out there. I am glad you made a thread for it and listed a couple for us.

Re: 2015-16 winter forecast
hope it would come true. I notice in another weather board, they are talking a milder weather for this up coming winter. With above avg temps in Dec, Jan, and colder in Feb. Am not making a winter forecast this year. Am at 50% on making them, so I will stay at 50%. Am just hoping we don't get lock in on day after day with rain, and then clear up and be mild this winter season. What a drag that would be.

My early thoughts are... this el nino may be a bit to much to over come... for a lot of winter weather... ice may be more of issue for midsouth region...

Re: 2015-16 winter forecast
JAMSTEC has been kind of locked on this for some time now. Ever since back in the early spring. If the warm waters stay up out on the west coast like last year, this will set up another strong high pressure Ridge all the way up in AK. And drive the jet down in the east and south like last year. Of course other factors are to be considered.

All the wooly worms ive seen were solid black..first time ive ever seen that. Folklore says that suggests a long cold and harsh winter but im not big on folklore..lol
Re: 2015-16 winter forecast

Re: 2015-16 winter forecast
This is just me. But I think the NWS has one of the most generic winter outlook maps there is. Don't need to go to school for that. I say call it. If you miss, you miss. That just my 2 cent worth. I know they do this for all seasons but they need to upgrade the way they put there long range maps out. We know what A means, we know what B means, but EC, it really mean either, I don't know, or flip a coin. Thanks for listening.

Re: 2015-16 winter forecast
Just wondering if anyone is going to make a winter forecast this winter season.? Would like to see some of you make one and gives us your thinking on the reason. It for fun, as you know, no one can really get it right all the time. ..
