Re: Spring 2012 weather discussion
Bruce caught one of them on camera...it jumped right out in front of him on a chase this evening...lolz
Re: Spring 2012 weather discussion
That might be, quite possibly, the craziest tornader footage I've ever seen. Would love to find a real video of it. How did that guy's truck not get blown off the road??!?

Re: Spring 2012 weather discussion
Reed Timmer is getting fired up about some of these naders on Facebook.
VERY STRONG ROTATION! Had to delete post from 5 min ago and repost this since it has intensified even more. Almost definitely strong water spout/tornado near Pecan Island. Vermillion Parish take cover now it's moving northeast.
Re: Spring 2012 weather discussion
i know one thing, this summer like pattern were almost in is killing any serious severe weather event for our part of the country... strong bermuda high is keeping any system that develops way west northwest.... tell you one thing, when this pattern does break down some... there will be plenty of cape to work with...just a matter of getting a strong system with shear to meet up with it... then boom goes the dynamite.

Re: Spring 2012 weather discussion
Your correct... This strong severe season is going to go down the drain if we can't get some powerful cold fronts thorugh here.

This weather can suck it. I enjoy a nice long spring before we turn to summer. This 80 degree crap in mid-march for an extended period sucks. Going to be a looooong summer I'm afraid (which only makes a lack of winter that much worse).

Re: Spring 2012 weather discussion
I personally think that this summer will be more avg in terms of temps and probably also be a bit shorter than normal
Re: Spring 2012 weather discussion
It will be hard to be shorter than normal when it has started much earlier than normal. I hope you are right though.

There will be a doomsday freeze here before spring ends like in April a few years ago. We had this same extended period of 70s in March, everything bloomed then we had low 20s in April a couple of mornings that just killed everything.

Yep - that was a disaster. Even the most serious winter lover shouldn't wish that on anyone.

Thats the main reason I think it will be shorter..... the summer pattern has setup early and in theory it should also end early because of this.
Re: Spring 2012 weather discussion
Can you say TORCH? And there is really NO sign of this letting up anytime soon
Re: Spring 2012 weather discussion
That is a nasty ridge right there, if the air keeps drying we could get up into the 90s for highs. I don't want that at all yet.

We have some hailers in the midstate right now. The one in Hickman county has a POSH of 100% and a potential to produce 3 inch sized hail. Baseball sized lol!

Im pretty confident that parts of southern Tennessee will hit the 90's before this early warm spell is over.

Can you explain what this POSH is? Don't reckon I ever heard tell of it before.
Re: Spring 2012 weather discussion
First I have heard of it too....but I assume it stands for Probability of significant hail
Just the first thing that entered my mind though

Re: Spring 2012 weather discussion
Not really Bruce
12z Euro at 240 still has the Death Ridge...there is just a cuttoff low that made its way in...and would likely just give way to the ridge
Here is the 18z gfs ensembles at 10+ days out all still agreeing on the death ridge,
She aint going anywhere no time soon
