I believe Toot told me it was a classic Nor' Easter. However, I don't know much and storm track might be something different than what I asked him.

Thanks. I had been reviewing the thread on storm tracks and this one,at least to me,appears to be. According to the explanation and graphics ,Millar A's are the best for us here in east TN.

Most seem to be backing off the snow totals, but it's actually switched to snow for me now. 34 degrees was the changing point here.

Am I correct in assuming that the reason middle TN missed out on the snow was bc the ULL remained closed longer than expected, thereby causing it to dig further s before the phase occurred this evening? In essence everything is just shifted E from this AM.John1122 wrote:Most seem to be backing off the snow totals, but it's actually switched to snow for me now. 34 degrees was the changing point here.

29 here with light snow. back deck and vehicles have a dusting. looks like plenty of precip headed our way here in monterey (plateau) from down south. still shooting for 2-3 maybe 4 inches here when all is said and done.

Re: White Thanksgiving? (Early season Nor'easter)
That's what I'm thinking. What is happening is almost what the GFS advertised a few days ago of the streams not phasing as well. I noticed that earlier today and yesterday on the models(NAM specifically) that the southern vort would get sucked in close to the mountains and that is when the heavy snow band was shown to develop. Now the southern energy is going to move over the central Carolinas.Jed33 wrote:Am I correct in assuming that the reason middle TN missed out on the snow was bc the ULL remained closed longer than expected, thereby causing it to dig further s before the phase occurred this evening? Moderate snow fall here and 32 degrees. Just not much precip developing in the cold air. Holding out hope that the moisture in NW Alabama can expand into Tennessee.

Light sleet/snow mix at 35.0 F here. Would like to see another 4 degree drop. Seeing an increase of precip on the radar.
Re: White Thanksgiving? (Early season Nor'easter)
Everything is white here now, 31 degrees and decent snow with a very nice looking area building in Eastern Middle TN.

Not looking good for the home team IMO. Back side moving to the east already approaching the plateau.

Once that rolls through, it'll be upslope driven for anything else most likely. Areas that do well with that should pick up some additional accums.VFL wrote:Not looking good for the home team IMO. Back side moving to the east already approaching the plateau.

You look to be in a better area since the axis of snow potential took a good jog East. You probably have a decent shot for 2+ inches I'd think. Especially if upslope happens in your particular area.Math/Met wrote:We have changed over to snow in Greeneville.

Re: White Thanksgiving? (Early season Nor'easter)
I agree. I think I'm in a slightly more favorable location compared to areas just to the west. The RAP seems to be consistent in giving my area a little more precipitation. Radar trends seem to support that as well. Obviously this won't be anything too significant, but I'll be satisfied with 1-2 inches of snow at this point.John1122 wrote:

Already have a dusting. It actually didn’t take that long for it to start accumulating considering the temperatures are still in the mid 30’s.

Re: White Thanksgiving? (Early season Nor'easter)
Woke up at about 3:45 this AM to see it coming down pretty good. We had around a half in then. Looks like we have about an in now and it's tapering off as I type. All in all not too bad for Nov. Not the 3in that I was hoping for yesterday AM but still great to see in Nov. Most I've ever seen in November.

3:30 A.M. had SnFl. Still some falling, wind is blowing 20 to 30 MPH. After 3 plus inches of rain that about all you can expect down this way. But it good to see a few flakes flying by.
