Sounds wise. So what type of set up will this be a Nor Easter? The tenn/nc border looks like it should do well.Toot wrote:Thanks for the info John..looks like an interesting one for sure.John1122 wrote:JKL is saying 1 inch minimum for their area, with 2-4 or 3-5 not out of the question. With higher amounts in the higher ridges. They are mulling a winter storm watch and expect 6-9 hours of heavy snow Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
On a different note.. lets just forget about the drunk person (Jasper) who used to be a big part of this forum but went by another name then! Lets try and stick to the likely snow we're about to see

HPC really upped their probabilities for the eastern half of the state Wed-Thu timeframe!
Most of east TN has a 60% chance of seeing snowfall of an inch or above according to the HPC

Re: White Thanksgiving? (Early season Nor'easter)
Yep..classic Nor'easter although the surface circulation looks like it will be elongated tempering down the cold air advection and snowfall amounts. The mountains will do well..im sure Leconte will likley get at least 10-12in! I think me and another guy are gonna chase this one up into the mtns and get some good video footage but im not sure yetNeals wrote:

Re: White Thanksgiving? (Early season Nor'easter)
HPC also gives my area a 50% shot of seeing more than 2 inches, and a 20% chance of seeing more than 4... "so you're saying there is a chance!! Yeahhh!!!!"

GFS is putting a bullseye right over the Northern Plateau for 2-4 inches.

New Nam run is looking a little wetter for all of the mid state. Still running though.

It looks like the northern energy is going to be just ahead of the southern energy. They really never phase to really wrap up this storm. Still impressive for this time of year. I will take what I get.

The NAM slaps east TN with a pretty good thump from the comma head..the last time I seen one of these deformation bands was last year when I got thundersnow on video
Re: White Thanksgiving? (Early season Nor'easter)
Yep remember that one we'll Toot! Only the second time I've ever seen thundersnow lets make it three shall we. Would be nice, but I'm not getting my hopes up for more thundersnow. Looks like at least we'll get to see a little pre thanksgiving flakes for the second time in two weeks! I've never seen that much November snow

Both the 00z NAM and 00z GFS hold onto the idea of up to an inch in the valley, with 2-4 in the Plateau and 3-6 in the mountains.

Hey Van, I'd deal fine. I'm thinking about half what the models are showing below 2500-3000 feet. Probably 1-2 inches here.

Re: White Thanksgiving? (Early season Nor'easter)
Dusting at most. Probably nothing but maybe a light dusting on top of roofs and cars and decks. Mainly just snow in the air but it will be windy so the snow will be blowing around. Bigger snow will miss us to the east with the heavier precip.

Hey guys, I just moved to Corryton near the Union County border from W. Knoxville. Should I expect at least an inch?

Can't believe roads are being pre-treated in Knox Co. Seems like a waste IMO, unless they are worried about the onset of sleet. Temp is just 36' here, suppose to be near 45.

Well started as rain sleet mix at 34 degrees. Now 30 degrees with sleet and a few flakes mixed in. Roofs and such starting to get white.

Wow nice lol maybe we will get something today too. (ofc nothing big but I was only expecting flakes to mix in with the rain today not anything on ground or roofs) Still hoping for my dusting tomorrow!

Re: White Thanksgiving? (Early season Nor'easter)
Yeah but that was the fastest 4" of snow I've ever seen here in Knox Co. Took me 3 1/2 hours to get home for a 25 min drive. CrazyJed33 wrote:I saw the same thing on I 81 awhile ago.
