Thanks for the info John..looks like an interesting one for sure.

On a different note.. lets just forget about the drunk person (Jasper) who used to be a big part of this forum but went by another name then! Lets try and stick to the likely snow we're about to see smoke
Sounds wise. So what type of set up will this be a Nor Easter? The tenn/nc border looks like it should do well.

HPC really upped their probabilities for the eastern half of the state Wed-Thu timeframe!
White Thanksgiving? (Early season Nor'easter) - Page 3 10prgqh

Most of east TN has a 60% chance of seeing snowfall of an inch or above according to the HPC

Yep..classic Nor'easter although the surface circulation looks like it will be elongated tempering down the cold air advection and snowfall amounts. The mountains will do well..im sure Leconte will likley get at least 10-12in! I think me and another guy are gonna chase this one up into the mtns and get some good video footage but im not sure yet

HPC also gives my area a 50% shot of seeing more than 2 inches, and a 20% chance of seeing more than 4... "so you're saying there is a chance!! Yeahhh!!!!"

GFS is putting a bullseye right over the Northern Plateau for 2-4 inches.

New Nam run is looking a little wetter for all of the mid state. Still running though.

It looks like the northern energy is going to be just ahead of the southern energy. They really never phase to really wrap up this storm. Still impressive for this time of year. I will take what I get. Very Happy

Yep remember that one we'll Toot! Only the second time I've ever seen thundersnow lets make it three shall we. Would be nice, but I'm not getting my hopes up for more thundersnow. Looks like at least we'll get to see a little pre thanksgiving flakes for the second time in two weeks! I've never seen that much November snow

Both the 00z NAM and 00z GFS hold onto the idea of up to an inch in the valley, with 2-4 in the Plateau and 3-6 in the mountains.

Hey Van, I'd deal fine. I'm thinking about half what the models are showing below 2500-3000 feet. Probably 1-2 inches here.

Dusting at most. Probably nothing but maybe a light dusting on top of roofs and cars and decks. Mainly just snow in the air but it will be windy so the snow will be blowing around. Bigger snow will miss us to the east with the heavier precip.

Can't believe roads are being pre-treated in Knox Co. Seems like a waste IMO, unless they are worried about the onset of sleet. Temp is just 36' here, suppose to be near 45.

Yeah but that was the fastest 4" of snow I've ever seen here in Knox Co. Took me 3 1/2 hours to get home for a 25 min drive. Crazy

...LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS POSSIBLE ACROSS THE
FORECAST AREA LATE TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY...

A STRONG UPPER-LEVEL STORM SYSTEM WILL MOVE ACROSS THE TENNESSEE
VALLEY AND SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY. THE
INITIAL IMPACTS FROM THIS SYSTEM WILL BE A BRIEF PERIOD OF FREEZING
RAIN TONIGHT...THEN LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL AND PERHAPS SOME
LOCALIZED FLOODING DUE TO THE PERSISTENT RAINS EXPECTED ON TUESDAY.

TONIGHT...RAIN WILL FALL THROUGH A VERY DRY AIR MASS GENERALLY ALONG AND
NORTH OF A HUNTSVILLE TN TO TRI-CITIES TO MOUNTAIN CITY LINE. THIS
WILL CAUSE SOME OF THE RAIN TO FREEZE ON CONTACT AS TEMPERATURES IN
THESE AREAS FALL BELOW FREEZING FOR A FEW HOURS TONIGHT. THE
SURFACE TEMPERATURES WILL RISE OVERNIGHT AND EVENTUALLY ANY ICE
THAT ACCUMULATES WILL MELT RATHER QUICKLY. HEAVY RAIN WILL OCCUR
DURING THE DAY TUESDAY.

COLDER AIR WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION TUESDAY NIGHT...CHANGING THE
RAIN OVER TO SNOW IN THE PLATEAU AND VALLEY LATE TUESDAY
EVENING...WITH THE REST OF THE AREA CHANGING FROM RAIN TO SNOW
SHORTLY AFTER MIDNIGHT. ACCUMULATIONS OF 3-6 INCHES COULD BE
POSSIBLE IN NORTHEAST TN...SOUTHWEST VA...AND THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS. ACCUMULATIONS OF HALF OF AN INCH TO 2 INCHES COULD BE
POSSIBLE IN THE PLATEAU AND VALLEY. ACCUMULATIONS MAINLY ON
ELEVATED SURFACES AND GRASSY AREAS...WITH SOME MELTING ON THE ROADWAYS.

WITH THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY APPROACHING...THOSE WITH TRAVEL PLANS
SHOULD MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS STORM SYSTEM AND STAY AWARE OF
THE LATEST FORECASTS AND UPDATES.
I will make my call later this evening but it will likely allow for 2-4in on the plateau and 4-12in in the mtns. I like a possible dusting for the southern valley around Chat and a dusting to 2 inches in the central valley. 2-4in in the Northern valley including TRI
