Re: Quick shot of snow and Arctic Outbreak coming
The sky does look angry over towards the mountains. It's crystal clear over me with a bright moon. Oh well, glad someone is cashing in nicely.
Edit: I take that back, on closer inspection some thin clouds are above. Winds have calmed though.

I'm getting in on the action here in Greeneville as well. It only took about 5 minutes to get a nice dusting on the grass and roads.

Re: Quick shot of snow and Arctic Outbreak coming
Had a couple nice snow shower/squalls here on the NE side of Hamblen Co. Morristown. Even got a decent dusting out of the last one that came through at 6 oclock. Too bad it is dark or I could get a pic. For you Adam. I wondered how we would do here, I have a small amount of elevation 1450 ft. is where my house sits.
But I know I'm in the northern valley, so Toot and John was right, we did fare pretty good here in NW flow. Of course not as good as the mountains, but hey, it was fun while it lasted

I hope not, but for the time being the sky is more clear than cloudy. Haven't seen the hi-res radar though, so more may be on the way, and it's just not showing up on doppler.

Re: Quick shot of snow and Arctic Outbreak coming
There has been an almost continuous line that has moved down the middle of I75, from the bend in campbell county to knox, for over an hour now. A nice yellow piece at Norris currently. Some areas through there have to have some good coverage by now.

If you happened to get under a band like that, then you can definitely get some surprise snow totals. It would be interesting to hear a report from there.

Really terrible road conditions here. Everything is covered. A little over an inch here at my house now.
Will upload some pics I took earlier down in LaFollette.

I-75 here in Campbell County is gridlock both north and southbound. Horrible travel conditions.

Re: Quick shot of snow and Arctic Outbreak coming
Certainly should have warranted a WWA in most of the northern counties of the MRX CWA...Maybe there would have been salt trucks out then... but I digress

Agreed Toot. Its ridiculous. Sure, there may just be a dusting out there, but one look at soil temps should have told them if any snow at all fell it would make the roads treacherous. Now my road, which is just off the highway and not a backroad at all, has a layer of ice underneath a sheet of snow.
How long do you all think highways and side streets will be treacherous/have no snow cover or ice at all? I'm supposed to go to Walters State tomorrow forsome pretty important stuff.....

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)--There are several highways that are closed or blocked due to ice on the roads following Monday's snow showers in East Tennessee.

I-40 Exit 355; all westbound lanes blocked
Highway 441; from Gatlinburg to Cherokee temporarily closed due to ice and snow
I-75 over Jellico Mountain closed in areas
I-75 closed 20 miles north of the Tennessee/Kentucky line
I-75 Exit 134; accident, but roads are open
