Agreed Toot. Its ridiculous. Sure, there may just be a dusting out there, but one look at soil temps should have told them if any snow at all fell it would make the roads treacherous. Now my road, which is just off the highway and not a backroad at all, has a layer of ice underneath a sheet of snow.
How long do you all think highways and side streets will be treacherous/have no snow cover or ice at all? I'm supposed to go to Walters State tomorrow forsome pretty important stuff.....
Have an inch out there with white roads. No salt/liquid salttrucks in sight at all and I live on highway 92. Not snowing currently, but its very much like pop up tstorms. Scatterrd and brief, but intense rates when it comes.

It's pretty ridiculous that MRX didn't at least put out an SPS. There are a ton of people I know who are stuck in the big I-75 jam that had no idea that it was going to do more than maybe light snow or flurries.

Very hard snow right now out of the thin streamer that is streaking across Campbell Co. I love the foggy look these heavy showers bring.

Still pouring down. The flow shifted to perfection to create streamers here. They keep generating here and flowing into Knox/Anderson/Union county. Not sure if they are as intense as they leave the mountains here but it's just whiteout conditions here.

East Knox county and Sevier county both look to have fared well from these streamers. It'll be interesting to get some totals in the morning.

Re: Quick shot of snow and Arctic Outbreak coming
Summary of the aftermath from my locale (jeff co.)
Amount of snow: .5 inch, to even an inch in some iso spots
Effects on roadways here: snow covered roads/highways with a sheet of ice underneath. As of 9 A.M., roadways have since turned into just ice on turning lane spots on highways like 92/11-E; some ice spots on a few side streets; treacherous back roads still
Expectation of when the roadways will thaw: highways should start immediately after the sun starts to peek out; side streets should be melted around noontime, if not shortly before; backroads will probably have ice on a few spots until mid to late afternoon, except on backroads that are well shaded which may stick around until tomorrow when temps rise above or at freezing
This is for Jefferson County only. This is just a short summary of the aftermath experienced in this particular event.
Thanks!

Re: Quick shot of snow and Arctic Outbreak coming
I am pretty amazed that I apparently got more snow than LeConte out of this. I honestly figured they'd get 6+ inches. But I think the fetch was more NNW, which is more favorable for me than NW which is more favorable for LeConte. I noticed some posters at American from the Boone area that didn't get much cooking either and were surprised. While a lot of areas in Western NC that don't typically see much Upslope got in on the act.
