Getting Plateau radar troubles. Not showing much here but it's actually snowing quite heavily. I imagine the entire Plateau is seeing snow but it's just not showing up very well.

I was thinking that was the case you can clearly see the linear band on satellite.

Why is the radars showing that the precip is becoming broken and drying?? Is it actually doing that or is the radar just having that much trouble picking it up?

32.9 with a dusting. Small flakes but a whole lot of them coming down. Temp should be below freezing shortly, when it get there I expect the roads will be a mess. It rained so hard that I figure it washed away the pre-treatment that T-DOT put down earlier this morning.

Windy and snow rather moderately at this minute. So yes it is snowing here. 26.4 degrees out. Hey Toot, how long will it snow like this? Midnight or later perhaps? drool

After that main band moves out the upslope flow will kick in...I imagine it will accumulate all night there Vann.

I'm thinking a dusting at best (maybe even less) is all my town sees from this. Hoping for better of course, but I just don't see it happening.

How long before the main band is gone? And I reckon the valley won't be getting any of htat upslope flow snow

Relax Tom...the main band of snow hasnt even got to you yet...and yes you in jefferson county will see some of the NW flow type snow.

It's funny how with some snow events the radar works fine over my area, but sometimes like now, it just appears the precip is being gobbled up as it hits about Fentress County and then usually will reappear as it starts heading towards the MRX area.

I guess it's just that some events see snow falling from lower in the atmosphere. This happened last December and I got about 5 inches and Fentress Co got nearly 8 and it didn't look like it had snowed a flake there by looking at the radar.

I've actually seen it in that one storm on Jan. 29, 2010, you know, the one system that had that damn warm air stick come up this way and turned the snow into rain during the night? lolz

For middle Tennessee and westward the event is over other then flurries. Wind is actually drying the roads up here too. Now far eastern middle Tennessee and points east yall will probably get alot more cause upslope or downslope or whatever its called.

I feel like what is starting right now here is probably the pinnacle of the event for us. Currently a nice light to moderate snow shower, the deck is still crunchy with the grauple flizzard from earlier. Off to sit outside and enjoy my 15 minutes in the spotlight!

You can definately see the hole in radar coverage in the northern plateau counties with this event..not only in TN either.... that hole can be seen well up into KY smoke
