Re: Jan 12th-15th Clipper Systems
If we get another band or two similar to that last one, then it will be decent snow for Greeneville. This is the most snow I’ve had all year, so that is a small victory at this point.

I got about inch half on the ground now Vanster. That nice heavy band laid down about an inch of snow.

It should but it will probably be somewhat modified by the influences of the plateau. Hard to say what that will mean here. Northern Middle TN has done fairly well with this even in the unelevated areas
Re: Jan 12th-15th Clipper Systems
Actually the snow has gotten pretty heavy again from the streamers coming across from Northern Middle Tennessee. Looks like we might squeeze out an inch or more.

Over an inch of very fluffy snow now. Surprised that this second batch of mositure looked less than the first batch but has produce much better snow rates. Still some decent returns sliding by north of Nashville too, should probably snow all night long here. Might even approach 2 inches if it keeps up like it has been for the last 1.5 hours.

Re: Jan 12th-15th Clipper Systems
Have about 1.5 inches now. Very high ratio stuff that will be gone when the sun comes out even with the temps in the 20s.
Interesting note. the NAM is showing another 1-2 inch event from about my area, across SE KY, SW VA and NE TN for Saturday night.
MRX introduced a 20 percent chance of snow for SW VA and far NE Tennessee. Just says mostly cloudy for here for now. JKL also introduced snow for their area Saturday night.
They reported the NAM being much stronger than other models for now so they are discounting it but keeping an eye on it.
This is what the 06z NAM shows for Saturday night.

Got an inch and a half out here this morning with an iced road. Earlier the highway next to where I live was snowcovered and so was the side street I live next to. County just to my North got nothing but a trace lol. Just goes to show how scattered this thing was.

Got a little more than a dusting. Main roads are good, but the back roads are kinda slick. Kids went to school an hour late. Cold as shiznit, that wind is a beast.
Re: Jan 12th-15th Clipper Systems
Yep, back roads are white but it looks like the wind kept the black ice to a minimum. Fun stuff, bring on the next one!

Wow, lucky you. I must live on the wrong hill in Morristown. I don't even have a dusting. This is the second event in a row that my hill got the shaft. The last event gave me a slight during. Meanwhile, just down the road had measurable snow. I wonder if it has anything to do with my house being on the ne side of the ridge. Oh well, maybe sometime we will get a synoptic system and we can all enjoy it. At least I didn't have to drive very far to see an inch of snow even if it wasn't in my backyard.

Re: Jan 12th-15th Clipper Systems
Tom is right....im out driving around and parts of jeff county has over an inch
Re: Jan 12th-15th Clipper Systems
The snow accumulations vary so much that it is hard to measure, but I’d say we got about an inch last night. Some places in Greene County reported 1.5 inches.

Re: Jan 12th-15th Clipper Systems
JKL forecasts mixing issues. MRX doesn't, and I can't really find it on any of the models. But I have saw these clippers pull up just enough warm air ahead of them to provide rain showers.
Hopefully that won't be the case here, not a ton of moisture to work with already, don't need part of it being taken up with rain showers.

Re: Jan 12th-15th Clipper Systems
John looks like some warm air could get involved in the southern valley but everywhere else to my eye looks like all snow.
By the way the NMM WRF is extremely bullish on some nice amounts
12zNMM
At 10 to 1 that could be 2- 4 inches in some spots... could be a sneaky event

Re: Jan 12th-15th Clipper Systems
Also...MRX is saying snow sat night...everything im looking at says it wont start til the early hours of sunday morning..Am I missing something?
Some totals from the first clipper ....Mt leconte come in with 4 inches and English had several inches to... Mountain City in NE TN come in at about 2 inches...while certain places in the central valley came in with .5 to 1.5....nice little event for a clipper.

Re: Jan 12th-15th Clipper Systems
JKL has WWA's up...MRX went with a SPS which seems like the correct thing to do IMO.
IMO the counties in white have the best chance of seeing a dusting to two inches of snow late tonight /early tommorow morning.

JKL has 70% snow, 1-2 inches, a few miles from me, WWA. MRX SPS 50%, under an inch for me.
