It's really amazing how much the forecasts are differing in the valley still. We are t minus 5-6 hours and you have wbir calling for 1-3 or 3-5 depending on valley locale and wvlt saying 5-7 for the majority of valley. The other outlets, ie accu etc calling for 2 inches. What is the variable that is causing the variance? Temps?

I was surprised to wake up and hear that it's not suppose to come in until later today, and they're expecting a rain/snow mix. However they (WBIR) did say heavy snow after 7pm. Oak Ridge was probably smart for not closing schools today. Everyone else around us closed. Personally I hope it snows a--hole deep to Beanpole Weaver!

The deformation band can be seen on radar coming together nicely across most of the state and dynamic cooling can already be seen in mesoanalysis! Everything is going as expected..its going to get ugly over most of east TN this evening/tonight. Im not sure what else yall wanna know? But I will be available to answer questions today..shoot away!

Loudon county seems to be the warm nose area that seems to keep showing on radar. Todd mentioned it last night that he expected the showing rain to be ice and snow at 6 pm. However the maps were not willing to show that. Our forecast changes almost hourly. What causes this? Do you feel loudon county will receive the warned amount of 4-8 or will the dynamic cooling cause us to get closer to the 1-3 that the plateau is seeing? Tia

My thoughts/graphic is posted above..dynamic cooling will win out quickly changing the rain over to heavy wet snowBallcoach wrote:Loudon county seems to be the warm nose area that seems to keep showing on radar. Is their supposed to be a new band form? If not middle tennessee is going to be screwed and even southeastern areas won't see anything who are in a winter storm warning

Moderate to Heavy snow falling here now..id say at a half inch per hour already!
Re: Significant winter storm possible (Feb 12th-13th 2014)
Middle tn was never expected to get anything other than light accumulations..the deformation band will continue to intensify and slowly move east northeast todayPman1618 wrote:Is their supposed to be a new band form? Good to hear. Just started snowing here.
I like how this band is setting up for our area.
