January 2016
Happy New Year everyone. Hope everyone has a great 2016. Looking into January, looks like we will be getting back to winter. Am like everyone else, hoping for a snowy winter and cold. One of the models i was looking at show somewhere around mid month a major Arctic out break. Anyone seeing this ? I know we are talking, in the land of OZ but just something to get this board to start cranking up. Any ideals ? Like to hear from all.

Re: January 2016
I know I have heard a bunch of talk of how January will be a transition month. But one or two guys have said maybe something the first half of January. I would really like joe bastardis thoughts on 150% of snowfall to actually happen.

Ok thanks. Am about 15 miles from Cleveland, tn in Chattanooga. He was talking this morning about major out break of cold air over a big part of the U.S.. But like I was saying earlier it 10 to 15 days out. So u know how that goes. But still it something to watch for in the day's ahead.

Re: January 2016
this is what JB is saying. Between 10th to 25th severe cold across U.S.. This includes East and the South. So we will see how this works out.

Everything still looks to be on track for mid month Arctic cold.

Re: January 2016
Not sure why we needed a Jan thread? The winter wx discussion thread couldve handled this I think but anyways this thread is fine.
As expected the PV is breaking down and high lat blocking is setting up!! U got an Arctic cold front that will creep southward thru the area early tuesday am...with wed morning lows in the teens valley and single digits in the mtns with light snow squalls possible.
Then late next week we got a possible snow storm to track euro and gfs both been showing it
Then many more arctic air intrusions with several storm threats. Gonna be fun!

Re: January 2016
Colder weather for next week. But how cold ? Our weathermen are just showing temps in the low 40's maybe upper 30's. For January that not cold to me. Anyone have a better picture of the temps. And snow, not much so far. Please update me =if you have something better.Something i missed. thanks..

Re: January 2016
Hey windstorm! I looked at some of the models it looks like some of the low and high temps are the coldest at the beginning of the week lows in the teens and highs in the mid 30s.... As for snow it looks like for most a dusting poss from this weekend storm, that would be on the back side.. BUT the models are not going to be great with everything that is going on... It is almost like something we haven't seen... It's looking like the better winter storm threat is coming up late next week.... Fun active times ahead.... Talk soon..

Fire ur weatherman..this tonights overnight lows using MOS guidaance..prob be a lil colder!!
Jscentraltn wrote:I ended up with about 1/2 inch of snow late last night..... Toot what are you thoughts about late next weekend? I know it is a week away, but do you think with the pattern we have, that we have a good shot or will the storms get pushed to far south for us or more lake cutters.... I also know the modeling will suck just as with this last system..... Thanks.
I think we're sitting nice..especially for west TN..this is the best pattern they could ask for as far as snow goes but looks like the storm track is going to be a lil north of the best but I think there is a fairly good chance for a significant snow (3") or more statewide this weekend!
