Tennessee County Formation Maps
I'm not sure where this belongs exactly but I think it belongs on the forum. I came across this series of maps that show how, or when, the counties of Tennessee came about. The tngenweb.org site in general has a ton of great information on Tennessee history. I thought some of you might enjoy this.

Very Cool. I live in Monterey, which is located in Putnam County. The original formation in 1842 was declared unconstitutional. Putnam County was firmly established Feb 11, 1854. Putnam County was named after Israel Putnam (Jan 07, 1718- May 29, 1790) A hero in the French and Indian war, and an American Army General during the American Revolutionary War (1775-1783)
