April Observations 2013 edition
At last..it seems to be a normal spring night here in good old east TN. Its about 51 degrees at 11:25 but brisk winds outta the NW in wake of a north to south moving cold front tells me its gonna cool down some. Anyways it seems as if winter has finally been broken and warmer weather is indeed headed our way. Time to break out the trout rods and head for the hills!
Re: April Observations 2013 edition
Thats what I thought. Been working in sleet all morning.

Re: April Observations 2013 edition
Well, it seems that overnight, the clouds cleared out enough to allow the temp to fall to 32 where I'm currently sitting, but the wind is still up a bit as well, so we just didnt fall to our potential low temp. Which is what I thought would happen. In low lying areas, there may be some pockets of 20s around here, but widespread freezing temps that would do ramage to what little is starting to bloom here is not occurring this AM thankfully.

There was no frost or freeze watch for our area but did make it down to 39 even with cloud cover. Don't know what the airport had. But they are 99.9 % of the time warmer than where i am.

Re: April Observations 2013 edition
1.26" storm total from last night to early morning. Nothing remarkable to report.
Re: April Observations 2013 edition
We had a pretty good thunderstorm here this morning around 450 or so. Fair amount of lightning and thunder, and some heavy rain, albeit brief. Ended up with just about .20 in. Just enough to help knock the pollen down, and enough loud thunder to keep me awake, uggh.

Got the AC running this afternoon. So far it has been 88. But has back off a little due to clouds. 85. Severe Thunderstorm watch out for many areas until i think 9 CST. Thunderstorm or shower moving out of Ga may hit parts of the Chattanooga area within the next hour.....

Wow, windstorm, it was supposed to be that warm here today, but the MCS has kept the temp down. I think we briefly touched 70 here before the rain started, butits been holding around 61 here with the rain this afternoon. Nothing severe here in Mtown today, actually only saw 1 lightning strike this afternoon. There was less rain overnight than today, but there was actually more thunder and lightning overnight than today.

Low of 31.5 here. Sat at or below freezing for roughly one hour and 15 minutes. But don't anticipate any problems with the garden as they're all early spring veggies.
Re: April Observations 2013 edition

What a difference a year makes. Last year I had mowed all of my yards at least 4 times. This year I have 7 yards that are all bermuda that I will mow for the first time next week.

Re: April Observations 2013 edition
Pretty happy with my yard. Front is Bermuda and side and back is brand new fescue that I planted after a grueling day of tilling. Planted 4 weeks ago and had a few sprouts of green popping through the straw on April 19 when I left for the beach. Got back Saturday and all of it is coming in nice and thick. Had a lot of rain yesterday so looks like the old brown dirt will be green grass to look at while cooking out now.
Not sure how much rain was at my house but neighbors said I won't be needing to water for awhile.
