I split the topic now to make just an Early Winter 2013/14 thread. I meant to move Todd's forecast too, but didn't get it. Sorry Toot. However, here is a link for it, or you can access in the old forum Early, Early Winter.   http://bcove.me/haehoz4r

Just take a look at the current snow cover!!! Top Left of this page. That is unreal for this time of year! Way Way ahead of anything we've seen in a long time. wash

We are actually around the same as we was last year in snow and ice. Maybe a little less. But the difference is the cold isn't bottled up in Canada like it was last year.

Man, I guess I got carried away seeing the snow cover here in E TN I just didn't remember it being that widespread last year or any other for that matter, this early in the year. I do remember there was an event in November, either last year or the year before in parts of Middle and West TN around this time sorta like the one we had last night here in E TN though.

Anyone else hearing about a possible major snow/ice storm coming down the pipes around the Dec. 10-12th timeframe?? It follows a major arctic air outbreak around Dec. 7/8th. I heard this from DT, so I'm not just pulling shit out of my ass on this one lol.

Man, if even a light snow comes from this, then it's already been an active winter compared to the last few. Bring it on.

It's impossible to tell that far out. DT is being a bit hyperbolic. I'm just hoping the cold will return in December.

I was just posting in the other thread, this reminds me of deer hunting in November 1989 with a bit of snow and temps in the mid teens.

The GFS popped this up for next weekend. Almost assuredly a fantasy.

This looks interesting. But way out there. And the GFS loses storms a lot of time only to pick them up again 3 to 4 day's before it happens. But anyway it's good to look at.http://mag.ncep.noaa.gov/GemPakTier/MagGemPakImages/gfs/18/gfs_namer_336_1000_500_thick.gif

Down to 21.1 this morning, and was down to 19.7 yesterday morning. Glad I wasn't out shopping this morning, but then again, with stores now opening at 6, 8 pm on Thanksgiving, it has took all the fun out of black Friday shopping.

Thanksgiving evening is ment to be spent with family and friends, not standing in line freezing your balls off. Just my opinion. Sorry for the rant.

The next front looks to stall out just south of us due to the ridge in place. could get interesting with overrunning coming out of next weekend into the following week! Still a ways out. sneaky

I think the models still are not handling the artic air next weekend very well. I think it comes in faster. The gfs is close. Could end up with a lot of overrunning winter precip here in middle tn. uh oh

I thought I might need to get my password. It looks like we have a good winter storm to watch this coming week. Its is looking like an epic ICE Storm to me.

This tweet of the Euro from Ryan Maue shows 30+F below normal 850hPa over Paducah and heading this way 6am Saturday.  That's trended about 12 hours faster in the last couple of days but otherwise holding firm to its ideas.
