*FEBUARY 19th/20th 2012 SNOW THREAT*

Hope y'all get something out of this. After Tom thought something was wrong with me because I said we would have all rain here and I was ready for warm temps to fire up the bar b. How much snow accumulated or fell at Tom's house? I haven't seen anything from him today but I've been super busy.

Haha Mommy, please explain. I must have missed it. He lashed out because I said I was ready for margaritas, beer and the bar b. Said statewide snow. Let me in on the secret. I have been on nights at work

It is bad to love snow and live in the south for sure. If it makes you feel any better, East Tennessee (from Knoxville northward) is a better than most low elevation places in Tennessee for snow during any given year. At least we can take comfort in that.

He was banned for two weeks. Tom wasn't playing nice.

I don't want to give the impression that we are a tough crew. Tom was given many chances, just to be clear.

After tracking this system for more hours than I care to admit, I can at least report that I have a rain/snow mix now.

Me too mixing good now...more snow than rain

Well at 3:30pm it was still 44 degrees in Knoxville. By 4:30 it had dropped to 38. At about 5:00 we had a very brief very light mix that quickly transitioned back to a liquid drizzle. It's looking like we will have some light snow showers tonight but over all this was a bust for the central valley. Not totally unexpected, but very disappointing.

You can say what you want about the HRRR, but once again it nailed the general idea of what was going to happen in my area 12 hours out. The writing was on the wall this morning. It may not have had every variable perfect but it told the story well enough. The 12z WRF was also right on the money, so kudos to both of those models.

Congrats to everyone that got to see some good snow fall today. While the end result is rather lame for me here, this was a fun one to track and I feel like I learned a decent amount from all the discussion that took place. Good luck tonight with the backside snow showers everybody in east Tennessee!

MRX and I... the HRRR and radar says this aint done yet...expect Ktown to pick up at least a dusting around 8pm-12am and NE TN to pick up another 2 inches as a VERY strong upper level vort rolls thru

Lol...surely yall read the discussion from MRX where they said it would be snowing in the valley near datbreak...but its already snowing here near seviervuile and im in the valley....Expect several snow showers tonight with the first burst possibly a pretty good squall like burst.

You can see this second wave his forming west of knoxville...the vort that is forcing this is pretty strong and almost like an ULL....It could possibly lay a a nice dusting to an inch or two down in some places as it swings through...this aint over son

Toot are you sure about that...I mean I see the precip just to the west of us..But here in Oak Ridge i'm sitting at 39 degrees..

By the time the second wave reaches you cold advection will have cooled you down into low 30's I would say. Its snowing here at a good rate now in the foothils...it will likely snow off and on the rest of the night in central and upper east TN
