Build more fires, dude.
I hope they do too for your sake buddy. And if I can manage getting another fire started with wet wood I'll do it! I had to take down 4 pine trees last fall that got the blight, so I have an abundance of stuff I need to burn. You keep planting those trees and I keep taken em down!

LOL...too funny. Guess I will have to redouble my efforts to combat that thing you've been discussing in another thread.

Well, even if the storms weaken, looks like a good slug of rain about to move through. Again, nice night to leave the windows open. AWESOME sleeping weather.

Re: May Severe Weather
Well, storms have visibly weakened on radar. No surprise. They usually always do this time of day, and the storms that moved through earlier probably stabilized the atmosphere here. If Stove's fire had only lasted awhile longer.
Gotta get up early in the morning, so going to wind down and relax before heading to bed. Everyone have a good evening, and TGIF tomorrow!!! Cheers!

Re: May Severe Weather
Mid/long range patterns on the models verify and I can say with relative confidence that those chances will increase substantially by around 4/10 on.

Re: May Severe Weather
Woke up to under a half inch of rain in the gauge this morning. TYS had 2.12 or some ridiculous amount thanks to Stove's taunting the weather gods last night with a sacrificial fire. I had a gentle rain here for much of the night. No lightning, no thunder. Guess I better start piling up the dead wood.
Hope everyone has a Good Friday!

Well, looks as if the NAO/AO finally trending downward in sync--something that didn't happen all winter long. I figured it would happen about now. On the plus side, we may have just endured the hottest weather of the 2012 summer. "Time for...a cool change..."

O im sure we will creep into the 90s during the summertime. At least around my neck of the woods. I am not sold on a cool summer just yet.

Re: May Severe Weather
I wouldn't mind a repeat of the summer of 2009. I think I hit 90 maybe two or three times that year. And it was a wet summer--storms galore. No death ridge=no boredom.
I think we are due a "cooler" summer. The last two have been blazin hot with La Nina wearing out her welcome.

Re: May Severe Weather
Lets just skip summer and go right to fall. Of course as WxFreak mentions, a repeat of 2009 I could deal with. The last two summers were just aaargghhh!!!

Did ya'll see the CFS seasonal forecasts forthe rest of the year? Bastardi tweeted them out. Sure look cool. Fall looks brutally cold.

Re: May Severe Weather
I seen them Mundie and they look cool as far as they go out...Normally I would say that model dont have a chance in hell of verifying but the CFS impressed me this last winter by predicting a warm winter many months out
Re: May Severe Weather
Cool summer and brutally cold fall?
I've been meaning to go over to AmericanWX and see what ol' Don Sutherland has been saying about all of this. If he's buying it I will start getting excited. The man has had one heck of a year forecasting weather. He's also a big fan of the CFS.

This image is from the NWS FB page of the TX outbreak...notice several cells with hook echoes...it seems almost every cell that fired in that region rotated
Re: May Severe Weather
That is so awesome even the squall line has rotation on it.

The JMA nailed the winter departures 6 months out as well.
And its cool in the summer, and balls cold in the fall. Bastardi was event commenting that he's frightened about what could follow if the fall is as cold as the JMA is forecasting.
