Re: May Severe Weather
Just had a major severe storm about 10 miles south of Dandridge, where I work. Had some dime sized hail, at least, and it fell hard and fast for about 5 minutes. Rain fell extremely hard for about 20 minutes. Road became a stream for a short time.

Re: May Severe Weather
I took some pictures of some crazy looking clouds on the way to pick the girls up from school, but I can't find my dang phone charger to upload em.
Well, I just hope the storms hold off long enough for me to grill. I got some fab P-chops marinating and some fresh corn o' the cob. nom-nom.

Dude you are killing me, that is hilarious!
Re: May Severe Weather
The Knox County force field has held up so far, I'm now going to taunt the rain by building a huge bonfire in my back yard. True Story!
(I need to get rid of some biomass)

Re: May Severe Weather
Watched the radar ealier today. Pretty interesting. Storms north and east of Knox collapsed and sent out a gust front that generated the severe storms in east Sevier and southern Jefferson Co. Most of Knox and the rest of Sevier Co was in the "hole"--the place where the gust front passed though dry before the storms refired. Matter of wrong place at the wrong time if you wanted a good T-Storm.

Stove, Homemommy, and any others near Knoxville...looks as if Knox is under a severe t-storm warning now. Guess Stove's taunting brought on Thor's hammer.

Re: May Severe Weather
It's like a damn James Taylor song in my back yard right now! Flames roaring... thunder cracking. It's a strange thunder too, like a muffled belch. So far the fire is holding it's own against the rain!

I've noticed that a storm when weakening usually has thunder that sounds like a muffled belch.

Re: May Severe Weather
But doesn't appear this baby is weakening. Maybe it's the cool, humid air.
Looks like an interesting evening. Love night time thunderstorms. Will be a good night to leave the bedroom window open.

Re: May Severe Weather
That was by far the most awesome weather I've experienced this year. I rode it out under my deck. The lightning was blinding and the thunder deafening when it was on me, not exaggerating. Some of those strikes had to have been within a quarter mile. It was the kind that raised the hair up on the back of your neck! I seemed to have dodged the hail core though. Now just gutter-overwhelming hard rain. Needless to say, the fire didn't win the battle.
Pure distilled awesome.
