Shelf cloud over Ktown today

Light rain falling here in Monterey this morning. Nice... Hope to get some heavier storms later today (afternoon) and maybe even a strong or even severe one or two tomorrow .

Even some thunder and lightning also this morning! A little help waking up the folks here in Monterey this A.M.

Had 1.30 inches of rain last night very shape lighting strikes kind of had me on edge with the ham radio antennas i have up in the air. NWS issue a flash flood warning until 1:45 this early morning. The we had some light rain up till about 10 or 11 this morning. Now it's hot and you can cut the air with a knife.

Watch the storms coming together in Northern kentucky..looks like they are organizing into MCC/MCS

getting a nice thunderstorm now... its warned also... got a good 40 mph gust min ago.

These are only going to get stronger as the ridge strengthens the next few days

In other news..the majority of the state is under a slight risk tomorrow as the cold front makes its way into the TN Valley

i am watching storms fire to my nw... hoping they continue to line out n fill in...

I thought storms were weakening here in east TN but it was just the MRX radar

4km NAM nailed this one early this morning

What is the deal with the MRX radar anyway? I've noticed for awhile now that storms ALWAYS appear weaker on MRX compared to surrounding radars. If you look at the same storms on JKL's radar, the difference is striking. What appears as light orange on MRX is dark red on JKL--on the exact same storms.

They must have the sensitivity set really high.. im not sure. It was working properly earlier though.

Anyways the leading edge of the storm is just now getting to me

I took these pics of a shelf cloud and caught a little lightning in one of them. I wish it had been lighter out. Shit!!!..the garbage can just went down the driveway

Finally getting in on the action more than just a grazing here too! Nice heavy rain for the last 30 mins. Hope it continues for at least a little while

I am growing very concerned about a major severe weather outbreak across the Midwest into Appalachia and the Eastern Seaboard in the July 25 - 29 time frame. Classic cP>cTw>mTw convergence with a compact strong 500MB shortwave (see the map!!!)

If you're wondering what the cP>cTw>mTw is..thats classification code for different types of airmasses. The cP is a colder one and the cTw and mTw are warmer ones..google airmass identification for further detail

were is he getting this from toot... all i am seeing is the ridge flex its muscle next week... HEAT

He's talking about 8-10 days away..anyways it looks like a great lakes and Ohio valley threat to me..The SPC also has a DAY 8 outlined up toward the lakes

On a going to bed note...I had to tell Joe Bastardi on FB that he was looking at the wrong graphic for next week
