Actually the GFS showed about 1 inch for me an a trace for the rest of East Tennessee outside the highest elevations.

MRX went all in, upgraded me to a warning for 2-5 inches. Hope they are right.

Well they put us here in Monterey (plateau) in a Winter Storm Warning for 2-4 inches. Warning goes into effect at 9 am until 6pm. Low of 25 degrees, black ice could be a problem tonight yikes

There is some bright banding on the radar more north of here, some heavier precip to my south.

Yes I think that is the precip hitting dry air and concentrating over one area. I am in part of that band right now pretty good rain.

I wondered if it was hitting the ground. I am also interested to see how the qpf from last nights model runs matches up with what we are seeing already fall this morning.

That is exactly what I am thinking, it has been raining here pretty good since 4:30.

I may be wrong , but I thought the models were considerably drier than what is taking place already. These are some pretty heavy showers at least from the radar returns. This will be a VERY interesting day. My county (unicoi) is forecast to receive anywhere from 2 to 8 inches. If we get anything over an inch, it will be this winters best!

The latest RUC gives me some hope at least, precip really blows up over tennessee and temperatures do not look bad.

I totally disagree with the SPS in the valley from MRX......They should be under a wwa for 1-3 inches.....I figure about 1 inch near Knoxville about 3 inches in Morristown. 4-8 on the plateau and in the smokies at Mt leconte north about 5-10....I imagine its snowing on Leconte now

I bet it is too, the radar is picking up on some snow in the higher elevations. How does the RUC look to you toot, I really like the way it blows up in middle tennessee.
